Dr. Curtis Phillips, MD

Background

Dr. Phillips was born and raised in the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago. He has always had a deep desire to understand the human mind and help his fellow man. While studying at Upstate Medical University Dr. Phillips had special interest in Addiction which led to him completing a fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York, NY.

Before this fellowship he completed training in Dynamic Deconstructive Psychotherapy (DDP) at Upstate Medical University. DDP, as it is commonly known, is an evidence-based approach to the treatment of borderline personality disorder as well as many other mood disorders. He also learned skills in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Dr. Phillips started and ran a medication assisted treatment program as well as an accompanying bridge program while living in Eastern Washington State.

At C Psychiatric Solutions, Dr. Phillips treats special populations that are often untreated or undertreated. These include patients struggling with mental health and addiction issues; athletes, coaches and performing artists with mental health concerns that may impact their performance; and finally, people belonging to African American and Caribbean communities.
